Specifications for RaceSpec 4MM:

  • Average Breaking Load: 650kg to the diameter of 4mm

RaceSpec Features:

  • Strength:
    • Incredibly strong for size and weight.
    • High tensile strength, which means they can handle heavy loads without stretching or breaking.
    • This is crucial in applications where low stretch or low weight is required as for a given load the rope used can be of a smaller diameter.
  • Low Stretch:
    • Unlike traditional ropes made of materials like nylon or polyester, RaceSpec has minimal stretch. This low stretch ensures that the sail control remains stable and predictable, giving better performance.
  • Lightweight:
    • RaceSpec is lightweight, which reduces the overall weight of the rigging. This can improve your boat's performance, especially in light winds.
  • Durability:
    • RaceSpec is highly resistant to UV radiation, moisture, and abrasion. It is well-suited for marine environments where ropes are exposed to the elements.
  • Low Friction:
    • RaceSpec has a low coefficient of friction, which means it glides smoothly through blocks and winches. This reduces wear and tear on the rope and the equipment it interacts with.

RaceSpec is Ideal for:

  • Halyards:
    • RaceSpec Spectra ropes are often used for halyards, which are lines used to raise and lower sails. The low stretch ensures that the sails maintain their desired shape, and their strength ensures they can handle the loads involved.
  • Sheets:
    • RaceSpec sheets are used for controlling sails, such as the mainsail or jib. The low stretch is important for maintaining precise control of sail trim.
  • Running Rigging:
    • Various other lines on a sailboat, such as reefing lines, vang lines, and outhauls, can be made from RaceSpec rope for strength and low-stretch characteristics.
  • Standing Rigging:
    • Some sailboats use RaceSpec or similar materials for standing rigging components like shrouds supporting the mast and safety lines replacing steel wire. These parts are responsible for supporting the mast and maintaining its shape.
